Built in 1904, Tyler Carnegie Library is a registered national historic landmark and a Texas Antiquities Landmark.

Museum

To further the Smith County Historical Society’s mission of preserving and sharing local history, a museum is located in the front rooms of the historic 1904 Carnegie Library. The building itself is a landmark, and together with the exhibits inside, it offers visitors a glimpse into Smith County’s rich past.

The museum features a variety of permanent displays along with special temporary exhibits drawn from our collections. These exhibits showcase photographs, documents, artifacts, and memorabilia that reflect the stories of the people, places, and events that shaped our county.

With new displays presented regularly, there is always something different to discover. For details on upcoming exhibits, visit the Events section under About Us.
